About
I have taken a very non-traditional path to medical school. My dedication to patient care in the early years led me to fully commit to community service and volunteer work, both locally and globally. I participated in medical missions across eight countries, focusing mainly on underserved areas. During this time, I also harnessed my music skills to DJ at homeless shelters in downtown LA, providing emotional support for residents and helping one individual regain his courage by producing his first records. After a year of working in an oncology clinic, I recognized the importance of research in advancing patient care. This realization motivated me to spend three years studying cancer metastasis at USC and UMB under Dr. Min Yu. My research efforts resulted in three published papers, including two where I was recognized as the second author.
Every step along my journey to medicine was driven by my passion and love for what I do. My approach was never about checking off a list, but about pursuing what I am most passionate about and doing everything with dedication. Through my medical school application process, I learned the importance of branding yourself with your strengths and presenting them in a way that truly aligns with who you are.
I am happy to answer any questions regarding medical missions, my patient care experiences, and my journey as a non-traditional applicant.
