Karolina grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa and came to the USA to attend Princeton University. She graduated summa cum laude (Class of 2010) with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Linguistics. During her time at Princeton she did research on cholera, and traveled to India and Bangladesh to study the implications of her cholera research as an Adel Mahmoud Global Health scholar.  She also studied the etymologies of South African creole/pidgin languages.
Karolina attended Harvard Medical School and graduated in 2014. She did her intern year in the Department of Medicine at Mount Auburn Hospital, and completed her residency in Anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2018. She worked in private practice for a year before returning to Massachusetts General Hospital as the inaugural pediatric anesthesiology fellow which she will complete in 2020. She then will be returning to work as a General & Pediatric Anesthesiologist at Boston Medical Center.
