Güldamla is an international MSTP (MD/PhD) student at the University of Minnesota. Being originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Güldamla came to the United States for her undergraduate education and received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology. Following graduation, she joined the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and worked as a lab manager and a senior research associate in the Departments of Neurosurgery and Psychiatry. In this period, her research has been featured in high impact journals. Although she was not a pre-medical student during college, partaking in multiple research projects and expanding her clinical exposure during her time at UCLA eventually led Güldamla to pursue combined MD/PhD training. Güldamla is very passionate about personalized interventions for mental health problems and addressing social justice issues in medicine. Outside of the world of neuroscience, Güldamla enjoys traveling, trying any and all kinds of delicious food Los Angeles can offer, indulging in visual and performing arts, and spending time at the beach.
