Chethana is an international student from Sri Lanka, with a deep commitment to the field of Osteopathic medicine.

Chethana earned her A.S. in Biology from LaGuardia Community College and her B.A. in Biology from CUNY Hunter College. With international experiences in South Korea and India, she brings a global perspective to her studies.

Currently a second-year medical student at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM), Chethana is the president of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA). Through this role, she encourages medical students to write resolutions advocating for themselves, doctors, and future patients. Chethana also organizes community-building events to foster collaboration among students.

Recognized for her academic excellence, Chethana is a member of the prestigious Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society. Her goal is to become a competent physician who provides high-quality care while advocating for the osteopathic medical field.

For one year, I was a research technician at the Hospital for Special Surgery. I also spent the year before medical school, completing an M.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies in Biological and Physical sciences at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine.
